Wake Up!

Wake Up!

On Thursday, I had my niece over for a sleep over and I love having her over. There is nothing like being in the moment enjoying adventures, watching movies and eating. We went to bed early on Thursday night and she was looking forward to watching a new series that she found on TV.

I woke the next morning around 4am, yeah, I thought to myself I can sleep some more. I snuggled into the pillow and closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.

The next thing I knew someone had shouted BOO! I woke from my sleep startled, disorientated and slightly confused. I screamed that half asleep half asleep kind of scream. I opened my eyes and standing next to my bed was my niece smiling and laughing. I was caught off guard I thought that I was having some sort of heart attack (sorry exaggerating there).

By this time my niece was laughing and I said to her “Why did you wake me up like that?”

She said that she was going to say wake up its going to be a great day, come on get up. Let’s enjoy the day.

I said to her that would have been nicer.

It made me think about our lives and are we going through our lives half asleep or are we fully awake?

Do we know what we are doing?

Do we know what direction we are going?

Are we fully embracing our lives or are we missing out on things?

Are we in the moment in our daily lives or our we thinking about what we have to do next?

Do you need someone to say to you Boo! Get up come on, it’s going to be a beautiful day, come on, let’s go?

If I am really honest, Yes, every now and then I need someone to say to me Boo! Come on the world is waiting there are endless possibilities. What are you going to be missing out on, look around?

Open your eyes and look really look.

I don’t want to miss out on opportunities this year.

I want to spend more time fully in the moment.

I want to spend more time investing in being in the moment more.

Wake up, lovely and see watch is happening today.

Daily Reading- Matthew 7:7-8

Daily Devotional-

The verse from Isaiah 43:19 reminds us that He will do a new thing, he will make a road in the wilderness.

It reminds me in Matthew 7:7-8 that He encourages us to ask, seek and knock.

The start of the new year is one that encourages me to dream big and to pray big.

What are you praying for this year?

Is this your year for a breakthrough?

Was 2016 a bit of a wilderness year?

Lean on His promise that He will do a new thing for you.

How do we go about asking, seeking and knocking?

The start of the new year is one that encourages me to dream big and to pray big. Consider starting this year with buying yourself a new beautiful journal and a pen that you will love to write with. Treat yourself to a new journal and pen if you like.

Sit down in your favourite place with your new journal, pen and your Bible. Don’t forget to make yourself a nice tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Put on some worship music and turn off your phone. Start by thanking God for all that He did for you in 2016. Be grateful.

Write out a scripture that has spoken to you and then write out a scripture for 2017.  Spend some time with him and lean in and listen to His still small voice.

Then write out your desires for, ask Him to make a way and then go out seeking opportunities and knocking on new open doors.  Be open to new experiences.  Take a step of faith. Be brave.  Say yes to Him.
