I am on school holidays this week and I have decided that everyday is for being creative.
What does that look like?
It is about investing in each day and creating something.
This could be through, drawing, journaling, singing, song writing, photography, blogging, designing a quote or it could be styling a room or a place in your home.
The list is endless, I would love you to join me in this challenge.
I love the story in Mark 5:25-34 it is about a woman who had been unwell for a while and she needed a miracle.
It really encourages me; I love reading about this woman.
We can see that she had been waiting for a while for her miracle, she really had.
She had hope, she had faith, she just knew that in that moment when she went to see Jesus that if she just touched Jesus cloak she would be healed. I admire this woman she had enough of being unwell.
I can’t imagine what she may have been through?
I can’t imagine what her life may have been like?
I have been wondering if she had to be isolated away from others?
She had seen so many Doctors that could not help her.
How must she be feeling when Doctors didn’t believe her?
I know through my journey that I had seen quite a few Doctors. I had felt like this woman pressing through and praying.
Can you imagine going to Doctor after Doctor and not getting any help?
How would you feel?
What would you be thinking?
I wonder what her morning would have been like on that day, I wonder what she thought as she woke that morning and decided that she had been enough of being unwell. She also had to make her way to where Jesus was and to push past the crowd. I wonder what she was thinking as she did this, I wonder if she was nervous or excited. It must have taken all of her energy to reach out and touch Jesus clothes (cloak). She was maybe thinking this is my only chance.
She had faith.
The part that encourages me and helped me was when He said to her “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace and be healed of your affliction.”
It took a decision for her to realise that she had enough of being unwell. She put her faith into action and was healed.
Wow!
This scripture encouraged me, in my recovery I wanted to be a woman of faith. I really had pressed into this scripture for myself. Yes, I wanted to be healed, I wanted to be whole.
Now I was not healed instantly, mine was a journey of discovering who I really was. I am okay with my recovery journey; it is my unique story.
Recovery looks different for everyone, so let’s not compare our journey with others.
You are you. You are created for a purpose on purpose.
Your journey of recovery is yours to explore, to realise that you are a gift and to trust and have faith.
So be kind to yourself, every day is a new day.
Do something nice for yourself.
Buy a nice journal and a lovely pen and write draw.
Maybe buy yourself a nice perfume and wear it every day.
Remember these words-
“Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace and be healed of your affliction.”
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God, and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Devotional
We all need a cheerleader; we all need someone that can cheer us on.
We really do.
I love the reading of Philippians 4:6-7, I love how he says be anxious for nothing.
We are stronger together.
We all need someone that can see our potential, someone that can yes you can do this.
We all need someone that can support and encourage us.
We all need someone that can journey with us.
We all need someone that can celebrate with us.
Who is cheering you on?
Do you have someone cheering you on?
What do you need someone to cheer you on for?
I would love to hear from you.
I started The Heart Project as a community where we can be there for others, where we can support and encourage one other.
I have always loved community, I really have.
I love that we can support and encourage one another.
My prayer is that God is cheering you on, He sees your potential and He knows your gifts and talents. He is leading you.
Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Devotional-
I am so grateful for holidays, I really am.
I am so grateful that I am able to press pause, to press pause and just rest.
I love my role as a Primary School Chaplain, I really do.
I had prayed to have a job that I could make a difference.
I have learnt to press pause during the holidays.
I don’t know about you but holidays allow me to slow down, holidays allow me to have space to create, holidays allow me to refocus on where I am going and what I need to do.
I don’t know about you, but what happens when you are on holidays?
These holidays I am pressing pause.
I am pressing pause on-
Rushing
Being busy
Boundaries
Drinking my early morning coffee quickly
Jesus said – Come to Me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Lord I want to have your rest, I want to hear what you want me to do in the next season.
When I don’t know what to do and I am tired I want to run to Him.
I want Jesus to direct my path, I want him to show me and guide me.
