October 2014

I have really enjoyed the last few days, on Friday I picked up my niece for a two night sleep over. It is the first time that she has stayed with me for two nights.
I have realised that just enjoying the day and time with her is good for me. I am just in the moment, whether it is watching a DVD that she has brought and listening to her talk about it or whether it is deciding what to eat I am just embracing the moment.
I love creating precious memories.
We have enjoyed such a full last few days.
We have had our IKEA adventure and she is able to find things that I really like. We love having a meal at IKEA, that is how we start and then we go and have a look at all the furniture and try out as many things as we can.
After our IKEA adventure it was time to go shopping for food and I must say when I go shopping with her I tend to buy very different items. Into the trolley goes popcorn, chips, ice cream, sour cream (which was for our taco night). I go down different aisles in the shops then I would normally go too.

Friday was a day filled with watching her favourite DVD’s and just really enjoying them.
There was not that much time spent on social media as I really want to embrace the time I have with her.

Creating memories is very important to me.

Yesterday I am really pleased to say that we had a bit of a pyjama day taking it easy and just again watching TV and creating some art.

The day was full of eating some of the snacks that we had brought and for breakfast I made pancakes.

Last night I had worship practice and so she came with me and was able to spend some time with my Pastor’s daughter and I loved how they just chatted and laughed. They got along really well.

Then we decided for dinner that we would have sushi, so the race was on to get to the sushi place before it closed and yes with great excitement we did make it.
We really enjoyed the sushi and then it was time for some more popcorn, extra butter flavour is the favourite at the moment.

As I am writing this she is sleeping peacefully and it just reminds me that-
Let her sleep, when she wakes up she will move mountains.

Will share more soon.

On Tuesday 7th October 2014 I had the opportunity of having a full day of a songwriting workshop with my mentor Merelyn Carter.

Merelyn has been my mentor since 2007 and we meet up at least once a year.
I first found out about her when I was home once unwell I think it was about early 2007. I was watching a show and this woman was being interviewed about body image. She was also a singer/songwriter and she said that she did mentoring with women.
At the time I thought that would be great to have someone that could mentor you and work on songwriting as well.
I didn’t really do much about it and then I was at a Christian bookstore and I was looking for a women’s magazine one of the people that worked there said there are some over here. I reached into the box and pulled out a magazine and I opened it and on the page was the interview that I had seen on TV not that long ago.
Wow!

So after that I knew that I needed to act on it.
It was probably another few months before I had the courage to send her an email.
I finally did get around to it and it has been a great journey.
Merelyn lives in Melbourne in the country and my first visit to her was in 2008. I just couldn’t believe that I was there and that is where I wrote my song Princess Heart.

So it was so great to catch up with her and her husband David. The direction of what I am doing now is totally different to what I thought that I wanted to do.
Now it is all about making a difference, using my testimony as a message for others.

When we have a mentoring day we work nonstop except for one coffee break. I love it.
On Tuesday we explored some ideas for my blog and social media.
I also was able to put some music to a song that I had written last year. The song is sister to sister and I love how it has worked out.
We also worked on writing another song called Lifting the roof of my life.

I really needed to have a day where I could focus on the creativity process and just to be encouraged.

It has been a journey, and it has been a great journey.

Will share more tomorrow.

I enjoy the holidays, I have been going through all my items and cleaning out items.
I have been sorting them into keeping them, donating them and throwing them out.
I did discover a lot of my shoes and I really need to go out to wear them. I need to go out to some really nice places. I have the shoes for it, I really do.
I have one more week left of holidays before I go back to work.
I am hoping to finish off the rest of my to do list.
Last holidays I was sick the last week so I didn’t really get a chance to finish what I wanted to achieve.
This holiday is the opportunity to be able to finish. Yeah!!!!

What is on your to do list that you could do?

Will share more soon.

Last Saturday night I came back from a beautiful holiday with my sister. We went to Bali for 4 days it was lovely. We were so blessed to stay at the Grand Hyatt in Nusa Dua and we were totally spoilt. This was my Fifth time to Bali but the first standing at the Hyatt.
I loved it.
The holiday went fast and we both enjoyed it.
We were there for a friends 50th Birthday and we enjoyed the time away together. It was our first oversees holiday together.
On the Thursday night we had a great time attending a quiz night and then it was time for Karaoke. The atmosphere was great and the quiz was a bit hard and we learnt heaps. Karaoke was fun and very entertaining.
We spent most of our time in Nusa Dua as on my last trips to Bali I did quite a bit of travelling.

Now I am back home and am on school holidays which has been nice. I have chosen not to work these holidays as third term was very busy.
So now I am just catching up on sleep, work and focusing on what the next term will hold.

September Spring

I have had a great week busy, but great.
I have had two meeting this week plus a PD (Professional Development) on Thursday and then speaking at Youth on Friday night. The PD was great and it was also a time to catch up with the other Chaplains in the area. It was a great day.

So after all this, yes I was looking forward to the weekend and a bit of a sleep in.
It is only about two weeks until the school holidays and I am really looking forward to the break.
This term has been packed and I cannot believe how fast it has gone.
Last night I had Worship practise and I love singing and praising God. This is where my heart feels so full.

Today we celebrated one of my nieces first Birthday 1 year old. Her birthday is on the 23 of September but some people will be away for it so we celebrated early.
She looked so lovely in her green tutu dress and her gorgeous smile. Precious lovely.
I think that she enjoyed the paper from the presents just as much as her presents.
Love creating memories with family and friends.

Loving life and trying to find the balance between work and rest.

How do you find the balance?

What do you do to create memories?

September 2014

I now find myself in the month of September and in the month of Spring one of my favourite seasons. There is only 2 weeks left of the school term. I cannot believe how fast this term has flown by.
I must say that I am feeling very tired today, I think that things have caught up with me.
I don’t really have a theme for September’s blog, I am just going to embrace each day and see what happens. The theme for September could be Spring.
This Friday I am really looking forward to speaking at Youth Group. The topic I am speaking on is from my blog I am a work in progress. I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to be able to speak to youth.

I am looking forward to the school holidays and catching up with friends and family. I am not working this school holidays which is amazing for me.
I realised that when I went to Sydney for the Conference that I needed to look after myself.
I need to find the balance between work and rest.
It is a work in progress.

I hope that Spring inspires you to follow your dreams and your goals.
I also hope that you are able to take some time out for yourself and to rest.
Enjoy.

Will share more soon.

I Am a Work in Progress

Last week I had a break from my blog, I spent time creating memories, spending time with family and friends.

It was really refreshing I was able to catch up with my sister who had been away and I loved catching up with her and hearing about her adventures over a glass of wine.
Then I was spontaneous and we went out for dinner mid-week which was also a nice change to the week.
On Saturday I caught up with a friend and we went to a Christian Bookstore and chatted over coffee. I love our friendship we don’t see each other for a while and then when we catch up it’s like we carry on from the last time we met. Then we had a look around the bookstore and yes I did buy just two books.

Saturday afternoon I had my nieces for a sleep over.
I love having them over and just creating memories.
We started by going food shopping and buying what we needed for our movie marathon.
Then when we arrived home it was time for ice cream and one of the movies.
I love how they are excited about everything, ice cream, movies, making pizzas for dinner, making popcorn, and eating chips and chocolate.
Yes I do spoil them but that is the job of an Aunty.

I also made them pancakes with strawberries for breakfast.
They also created, I finally learnt how to make a loom bracelet. Yeah! They painted, used I-Clay, drew and read books.
It was such a lovely weekend and yes we will do it again.
I know that spending time with them just makes me slow down and also that I am right in the moment, taking in what they are enjoying. I loved seeing them watch the movies and then hearing the crunch and munch of popcorn and chips being eaten by the handful. I love hearing them laugh at the movies and then sing through the movies.

I am a work in progress and I learn new things everyday.

Will share more soon.

I Am a Work in Progress

I have had such an amazing week.
I was so blessed to catch up with someone who I heard a few years ago speaking at Riverview Church. I have been following her amazing journey over the years and it has been really inspiring.
She was here in Perth for a few days speaking at several places.
We were able to catch up on Wednesday at 6pm for an hour. It was so worth catching up with her and I loved sharing my journey with her and hearing about how she is making a difference.

I was explaining to her how I want to start an Eating Disorder Support Group and was still thinking over what someone had suggested to me a few weeks ago about the group being a Christian group.
I had been thinking that, I don’t want to exclude anyone.
So my friend said to me don’t water down what God has done for you and you know that without Christ that you would not be here. What she said to me made sense. Her group is a Christian organisation and they help everyone and I love that. She reminded me that without Jesus it is just replacing negative thinking with positive words.
She also said to me don’t be afraid, I guess taking the next step is a little bit scary. If I want to support women then I need to take the next step.

I loved that I was able to hear what her organisation is all about and hearing about their values.
She prayed with me and quoted one of my favourite scriptures Proverbs 3:5-6.
Amazing.

Then on Thursday at one of my schools we had book fair and had to dress up as a book character.
I love my job, I went as Angelina Ballerina I love that my work days are so varied. I love it.

Saturdays are now my rest days where I am not planning anything or preparing for anything.
It is a day to recharge and reflect on the week.
This afternoon I went out for coffee with my sister in law and my youngest niece. I love spending time with them, it is creating memories.

I know that I am so blessed, I am thankful and grateful for all the opportunities that I have experienced this week.

Will share more soon.

I Am a Work in Progress

I found the picture above on Pinterest, and it really spoke to me and where I am at now.

The quote- Being Single Doesn’t Mean No One Wants You It Means That God Is Busy Writing Your Love Story

I don’t know who wrote this quote but it has reminded me that my love story is being written. It sounds really romantic.
I do feel like the girl in the picture sitting and waiting.

This does relate to -I Am a Work in Progress.

Maybe I had to really understand myself and get to know what I like and what I don’t like.
I also know that I have talents and dreams that I am and want to pursue.

I think that if my prayer had been answered about 7 years ago that my life would be totally different.
I would have just gone along with the person I had met and not really discovered with who I really am.

I have learnt so much over those 7 years I have grown as a woman with opinions, who is compassionate and who wants to make a difference. I have loved all the adventures that I have had and will still be having.

Yes I want to be married and have children, that has been my dream since I was young.

I am okay waiting for the right person and I am happy to let God write my story.

I must say that I would like to meet him soon.

While I am waiting I am not just going to sit and wait looking longingly out the window.
No!!!!!!!!!!

There is still so much to do.

The story begins-
Once upon a time…………………………………………….

To be continued………………………

Will talk soon.
