Today is the first day of our Chaplain’s Conference and I love Conference.

It’s a time where you get to catch up with other Chaplain’s that you might not have seen since last Conference.

We had registration a 9am and then we had a change to chat, drink coffee and laugh.

Then it was time for lunch and we are really spoilt the food is amazing.

I know that becoming a Chaplain has really opened doors for me and I am so grateful. I have been really stretched out of my comfort zone in what I get to do every day. I have learnt to become flexible and to try new things. They are things that I never thought that I was able to do.

We are all individuals as Chaplain’s with many varied gifts and strengths. So it is really great when we all come together and hear about what others are doing. Conference is a real time of being relational, listening and understanding others. Conference is also allowing us to have self care for ourselves, taking some time to just be and listen. Listen to the small still voice that we all know.

Take the Time to Relax

 

 

It’s Sunday and I really wanted to call this blog, Relax It’s Sunday. I was thinking about the title and thought you don’t have to wait for Sunday to relax. You can relax throughout the week in other ways.

Today I have just stayed home and have really enjoyed the day. The last month has been very productive and I have had something on most of the days. So today I decided it was time to just stay at home and to relax. Not having to be anywhere at a certain time, just to stay at home and enjoy the day.

Today started with a sleep in Yeah!

I have read the paper, watched TV, created art, listened to worship music and have listen to a podcast about creativity. It has been great to just do these things that nurture me and allow me to be able to have space to create.

I feel that it is really important to have some time to be able to do the things that you love to do. Set aside some time to create and do what you love.

My week tomorrow starts with our Chaplain’s Conference and I know that it will be a great week. We will have the Conference for three days and then I will be attending a course on Thursday and Friday.

I am really looking forward to this week and to see what will happen.  It will be great to catch up with the other Chaplain’s and to see how they are going.

Saturday Celebrations

 

Wow! 

I am halfway through my #marchchallenge2014 I am really excited about it.

I have been thinking back on what I have been able to achieve. It has not always been easy and sometimes I have thought I wouldn’t possibly be able to post a blog. I have pushed through it though, I love a challenge and I really want to be able to achieve this one.

I have really enjoyed taking more pictures of what I am doing in my life. I feel that this is a great defining moment in my life. It has given me greater awareness of exactly what my days are like. I have realised as well that I can commit to something and I will see it through. It has opened up my creativity and I am looking around more at the world. My world is expanding which is exciting.

Today we celebrated my Dad’s Birthday and my sister-in-law made him a Hulk cake, it was my nephew’s idea. We had a really nice afternoon tea and my Dad loved his cake. Celebrate well.

I am looking forward to what the next few days and weeks will look like. I am excited to write about it and to reach the 31^st March 2014.

Community

 

 

I have just arrived home from work it is about 8.30pm. I stayed back at work tonight to enjoy the sundowner that the P&C had organised.  They had organised a band, food and glow sticks, they are amazing.

I love the great community up there, the parents, the teachers can catch while the children run around and play with their friends. Everyone really enjoys themselves and it is a great safe environment.

I am now feeling tired but it’s a great tired. I just love my work and feel really blessed. I am able to meet so many different people. Every day is different for me and I am enjoying the diversity of my role. I have really learnt to just be flexible and go where I am needed.

Everyone needs to feel like they belong and I hope that you are involved in something that you love.

I hope that you are able to share what you are passionate about and to give back to the community.

A Breakthrough

 

 

On Tuesday I had a breakthrough with my writing.

Yeah!

I finally allowed myself to really connect with the subject that I wrote about. I did notice and feel that I when I write about something that I am passionate about it feels different. It had more energy even though I was not sure whether to place what I wrote about on my blog. I did  though and now I am glad that I was brave enough to hit the post button.

I did ask a friend of mine to check my blog and what I had posted. I thought it was a bit too full on. Her advice was to write more like that. (Thankyou)

It is scary when you put your thoughts out there.

I have really loved being able to be involved in the #marchchallenge2014 it has pushed me out of my comfort zone of what I write about.

It has made me look around and focus on things that I would normally miss during my day.

It has allowed me to be creative and to explore more of the creative arts.

Flowers

 

Today I am going to share with you why I wear a flower in my hair every day.  I decided sometime near the end of 2007, that I would wear a flower in my hair.

I have continued to do this every day.

I was going through a difficult season in my life and decided I needed to put back the colour into my life.

So where ever I go whether it is work, samba classes, boxing, going out with friends, church I always will wear a flower in my hair. I know now that it is my style and I was thinking of changing it this year and wearing headbands ummmmm.  I am not sure about this change, I will have to think about it.

So for me it was breaking old habits and replacing it with something new, something inspiring, and something that was different from what I would usually do.

I have heaps of flowers and I find that people will buy me flowers for my hair.

Leadership

 

Today I was invited to go the Leadership Conference with the Prefects at one of the schools I am at.

The day started out using public transport to the conference where I witnessed an act, I am going to call as cowardly.

Let me just say being in a group and picking on one person does not make you tough. Doing it in front of adults and primary students does not make you a hero. Getting your friends to hold your bag, and then your friends having their phones ready to video your attack on the one person does not make you someone who people would like to follow. Making threats to one individual does not make you a leader. You are the exact opposite of Leadership, what I saw was an act of a coward who needed an audience.

Usually my blog is full of inspiration and building people up. What I saw today made me realise that I needed to speak up, to stand in the gap for the victim.

 

We did end up having such a great day at the conference and the students really enjoyed themselves. The conference was really well done and there were about 1700 primary school students there.

A day full of adventures.

My thought-Be a voice for those who cannot speak up for themselves.

Coffees Catch Ups

 

I love coffee catch ups with friends they are always so inspiring.

People who know me know that I like my coffee in a take away cup. I also like my coffee to be a skinny flat white extra hot. I find this way my coffee stays hot enough for a good long chat with a friend. I will try some new types of coffee this year, I will branch out a little bit.

Today I met up with a friend at a shopping centre for a catch up I hadn’t seen her for a while and it was so great to sit and hear what she has been doing. I love it when you catch up with your friends they are always encouraging and are doing lots of things in their lives.

 

We sat and chatted for a while and then went shopping.

 

I was very tempted to buy some new shoes, oh maybe some new boots now that winter is coming. I also love shoes. My other favourite thing that I love looking at is stationary I just love it.

Sunday

 

My Sunday.

I actually had a sleep in this morning after a fantastic night at the Bush Dance. It was a quite a productive day yesterday and I loved it.

Today we had two celebrations in our family my Sister’s birthday and my Mum and Dad 40^th Wedding Anniversary.

We gave them some flowers, a frame with a picture of them in it and then pictures of all of the children in the family at the same ages. It looked lovely.

 

Now it is time to work on some projects and prepare for the week ahead.

I am actually enjoying my break from studying it allows me to pursue those projects that I haven’t had time to pursue.

Also I must remember to relax and just enjoy the day.

Saturday

I really enjoy my Saturdays, I also am able to have a bit of a sleep in. Yeah!

Saturdays is my Samba day, I am so enjoying my dance class and learning heaps.

Then I went to my hairdressers and had my hair cut, coloured and straightened. Love it!

Tonight I was able to help out at one of the school I work at they were having a fundraiser. It was such a beautiful night. The theme was a bush dance.

I was also able to help sell raffle tickets and glow stick.

I was also the MC (host) for the night, it was so much fun and I with the help of others was able to draw the raffle. The prizes where amazing. I love how the community is so support and generous. Love it.

Then I was able to have a dance and learn a new bush dance.

Sitting back now and feeling so blessed.
