Wake Up!

Wake Up!

wakeuppic

On Thursday, I had my niece over for a sleep over and I love having her over. There is nothing like being in the moment enjoying adventures, watching movies and eating. We went to bed early on Thursday night and she was looking forward to watching a new series that she found on TV.

I woke the next morning around 4am, yeah, I thought to myself I can sleep some more. I snuggled into the pillow and closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.

The next thing I knew someone had shouted BOO! I woke from my sleep startled, disorientated and slightly confused. I screamed that half asleep half asleep kind of scream. I opened my eyes and standing next to my bed was my niece smiling and laughing. I was caught off guard I thought that I was having some sort of heart attack (sorry exaggerating there).

By this time my niece was laughing and I said to her “Why did you wake me up like that?”

She said that she was going to say wake up its going to be a great day, come on get up. Let’s enjoy the day.

I said to her that would have been nicer.

It made me think about our lives and are we going through our lives half asleep or are we fully awake?

Do we know what we are doing?

Do we know what direction we are going?

Are we fully embracing our lives or are we missing out on things?

Are we in the moment in our daily lives or our we thinking about what we have to do next?

Do you need someone to say to you Boo! Get up come on, it’s going to be a beautiful day, come on, let’s go?

If I am really honest, Yes, every now and then I need someone to say to me Boo! Come on the world is waiting there are endless possibilities. What are you going to be missing out on, look around?

Open your eyes and look really look.

I don’t want to miss out on opportunities this year.

I want to spend more time fully in the moment.

I want to spend more time investing in being in the moment more.

Wake up, lovely and see watch is happening today.

Ask, Seek, Knock

Daily Reading- Matthew 7:7-8

Daily Devotional-

The verse from Isaiah 43:19 reminds us that He will do a new thing, he will make a road in the wilderness.

It reminds me in Matthew 7:7-8 that He encourages us to ask, seek and knock.

The start of the new year is one that encourages me to dream big and to pray big.

What are you praying for this year?

Is this your year for a breakthrough?

Was 2016 a bit of a wilderness year?

Lean on His promise that He will do a new thing for you.

How do we go about asking, seeking and knocking?

The start of the new year is one that encourages me to dream big and to pray big. Consider starting this year with buying yourself a new beautiful journal and a pen that you will love to write with. Treat yourself to a new journal and pen if you like.

Sit down in your favourite place with your new journal, pen and your Bible. Don’t forget to make yourself a nice tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Put on some worship music and turn off your phone. Start by thanking God for all that He did for you in 2016. Be grateful.

Write out a scripture that has spoken to you and then write out a scripture for 2017.  Spend some time with him and lean in and listen to His still small voice.

Then write out your desires for, ask Him to make a way and then go out seeking opportunities and knocking on new open doors.  Be open to new experiences.  Take a step of faith. Be brave.  Say yes to Him.

His Promise

Daily Reading- Romans 8:28

Daily Devotional-

Read Romans 8:28 out loud- And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God to those who are called according to His purpose.

In the verse, we see that -All things work out according to His purpose.

Be encouraged.

This is a scripture to hold onto when you are going through those difficult times. Difficult times do happen and it is the way that we respond to them that makes the difference on how we get through them.

Write the scripture out and place it somewhere that you will see it every day. This is a reminder of His promise.

Whatever happens in our life we know that he is with us.

We know that God will bring us through these hard times. Stay in faith, pray and ask for others to pray for you.

Trust that He will work it out for your good, you may not see it or know how He will work it out but keep stepping forward. He has amazing plans for you and He needs you to keep walking forward. Be brave.

When he brings you through things this is your testimony for others to help and encourage them.

Your testimony will be powerful because it shows that you are a strong woman of faith. It shows Gods strength in you.

Have faith.

Get Excited

Get Excited

getexcitic

Hello to the first day of 2017 and welcome to the new year.

Last year I found embracing 2016 very hard.  I really struggled to get excited about the new year. It might have been due to the fact that I was tired or exhausted, I felt like I crawled across the finish line, that I just made it over. I did make it but I wasn’t filled with joy, I wasn’t even excited about writing in my planner or writing on my reflection pages. I didn’t have the energy to dream.

Fast forward to today where I am excited to write in my journal for 2017. I feel like I have cartwheeled right into 2017. I am excited to dream, to plan to write and to work on my reflective pages for this year.

I don’t know what has happened?

But I kinda like it.

So, I have decided that January is all about Adventures.

Yes, let’s have an adventure.

The word adventure has been coming up a lot for me I think that 2017 is the Year of Adventures.

I few years ago, a good friend and mentor of mine challenged me to say yes to things. I think that I need to do this again and just see what happens.

So Yes, to trying new things.

Yes, to going on adventures.

Yes, to not doing the same things over and over.

Yes, to getting excited for this year.

What are you excited about this year?

Is there something that you are going to try this year?

What is your word, for the year?

Get excited!

Lessons I Have Learnt in 2016

Lessons I Have Learnt in 2016

lessonspic

The last day of the year finds me reflecting on the year.

I don’t know about you but this year for me has been full, with good things happening and then the not so good.

I am hoping that I have learnt some lessons from this year that makes me stronger for next year.

I have learnt that………

  • I love my job I really do, I love the people that I get to journey with and the students who I see. I love the students faces when they achieve something that they didn’t think they could do. I love being a primary school chaplain. I really enjoy the school community.
  • It’s good to have people in your life that you can be yourself with. You can be open, vulnerable and relaxed with them. I also appreciate friends/family that you can just have a really good laugh with. You know the one where your stomach hurts and you have to move away from the person that is making you laugh. Laughing is really good for you.
  • Things will happen to you but it is how you respond to them that makes all the difference. Yes, I had a few difficult times in 2016 with having pneumonia, then having someone smash into my car. Then having my car written off and having to go to physio. I didn’t let that define me or allow that time to wallow.
  • It’s okay to cry, to have a meltdown, to ask for help. It’s okay to have emotions and to use them. Having a good cry is quite okay. Just don’t unpack your bags and stay there.
  • I haven’t learnt that I love writing devotionals, I am grateful to be able to write for two publications this year. I have written for Her Binder Project and Quite Women Co. I love these communities.
  • I am grateful for friends and mentors that can speak into my life that can encourage me and challenge me with my goals and dreams.
  • I am also grateful for the people that I have met this year.
  • I have learnt that I am a Creative. Yes!
  • I have learnt that I love writing and working on my blog The Heart Project.
  • I have learnt that boxing is my happy place, it is where I discover my strength and determination.

I could probably add more to this list, but these are the ones that I wanted to share with you.

What have you learnt this year?

How has your year been?

I don’t ever want to stop learning.

Happy New Year.
