A Weekend Away

A Weekend Away

I was asked if I wanted to go on a retreat last week, I wasn’t too sure at first. Then I had thought about just saying yes to new adventures so I went. At first I was only going to stay one night then I ended up staying the whole weekend.

I only knew one person going there was 7 of us all together.

I was so grateful that my friend drove.

So I met 5 new amazing women and I loved the weekend.

The weekend was full of walking to the beach, eating, drinking coffee, chatting and laughing.

I also had the most amazing coffee. As you may know I love coffee and the place we went to was Spill the Beans.

I kept on raving about my coffee.

The place where we stayed was right across the road from the beach, the view from the house was amazing.

I love the sound of the beach, there is something so soothing to me.

I was so determined on Saturday that I wanted to go for a work in the afternoon and to just sit on the beach and think.

Well the weather on Saturday was quite stormy, but I remained hopeful.

We did end up going for a walk on Saturday late afternoon. The weather was still windy and it looked like it would rain.

It was freezing but in a way exhilarating. We did go to the beach and the roaring of the waves was quite loud.

Then it poured, the rain was stinging my face.

We did it though the walk was achieved.

We spent Saturday night playing board games, I loved laughing and just being in the moment.

We do need time to take time to get away from our everyday life.

We need time to just be and enjoy being in the moment.

I loved the whole weekend.

Life and the Single Christian Girl………………..

I have had such a full week and my weekend is looking full as well.

It’s all good though.

I have one of my beautiful nieces birthday tomorrow.

So excited to celebrate her special day with her.

I found this quote that says-

Just because a person smiles all the time doesn’t mean their life is perfect. That smile is a symbol of hope and strength.

I love this you don’t know what a person has been through or what they are going through.

A smile covers so much.

To be able to smile after going through hard times is amazing as well.

You also don’t have to have it all together to try new things. If you wait for perfect conditions you may miss out.

Go out and have a try.

I had been looking at my next challenge that I want to try and I thought about going on an Ariel Trapeze.

Mmmhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Sound a bit adventurous, sounds a bit scary but I have gone on a big flying fox. So my thought is maybe I can do this. I love a challenge.

I have found a place to be able to try it.

All I need is to muster the courage to phone up and make an appointment.

Yes I will do it.

Will share more tomorrow.

Thursday

I will have to say that this week has been an adventure.

I have had the holiday program which has just been amazing. I have really enjoyed the 3 to 5 year olds, they make me laugh and are very caring. One of them even painted me a beautiful picture and brought it in for me.

Feeling so blessed at the moment.

Today the activity was called Shining Stars which is all about drama, making props, designing backgrounds and learning about how to move in different way. We even tried to float around like bubbles while I was blowing bubbles for them.

They designed amazing backgrounds for their play and I have some pictures of their work. They really enjoyed designing them and they worked for quite a while on them.

We then all sat down as a whole group then each group came up and explained their background. Oh the details. They all spoke about what they had drawn, they had put so much thought into them. A squiggled line was a footprint, I love their imagination.

Then it was time for the play and didn’t they shine.

Each child then received a silver shining star that has written on the back- This Shining Star is Awarded to ………………. (their name is added).

They each came up in front of the group and shook my hand and where given their stars. Then everyone gave them a big round of applause. I was very surprised that all of the children new how to shake hands. Their faces when they were presented their stars where so delightful.

Today was my last day at the holiday program.

I am sure that I will attend the next lot of holidays.

School Holiday Project-

If you have children at home this school holidays then how about letting them create their own play. Sell tickets to your friends, set up the audience area with chairs. Use objects around your home for props depending on the play that you are doing. Let them come up with the idea of their play and just go with it (as long as it is safe) they will enjoy it a whole lot more if it is their idea.

If you have younger children 3 to 8 year olds then you will need to supervise them.

Older children may like to write out their play and then rehearse and have the play on a particular day.

Most of all enjoy the whole experience.

Looking forward to chatting with you tomorrow.
