Count It All Joy

Count It All Joy

Today is the last day of the school holidays and I feel that this holiday has been eventful.

I have been stretched and encouraged by opportunities to learn new skills by attending professional development.

I have written two new devotionals and have been blogging.

I have spent time with my nieces and nephew in creating memories with them.

I had a car accident the first day of the holidays and yesterday I found out that my car has been written off.

I have been thinking about the scripture in James 1:2-4 (Message Translation)

Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith life is forced into the open and shows its true colours. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely.  Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.

Count it all joy when test and challenges come at you from all sides. I don’t know about you but when I am going through things Joy is probably not the first thing that I think of. I am learning as I journey through life that trials have the opportunities to teach us new things and new ways to do things.

I was very concerned when I was hit from behind in my car and memories from the last time I was in a car accident came flooding back.

I was thinking oh my goodness this is what happened last time and I plummeted into an illness that was devastating.

I had to stop myself and realise that this accident is different, I am a lot stronger mentally and physically this time.

I know that I do not want to go back to that place many years ago. Going back is not an option.

I have grown through the challenges as a person and I am aware that my life has expanded since the last accident. I also have a great support network.

Life is to be experienced and life is to be enjoyed.

I don’t know what you are going through today, but can I encourage you to find a great support network.

Whether that is in your church, in your community or your family.

If you need to seek professional support, find someone that you can talk to.

Count it all Joy.

Draw Near

John 4:1-26

I love the scripture from John 4:1-26 in the Bible, when the Samaritan Women Meets Her Messiah.

I would encourage you to read the scripture and meditate on it.

I imagine for the Samaritan Women it is probably an ordinary day in her life and she is going about her daily work. She makes her way to the well to gather water and who does she have an encounter with Jesus.

Jesus interrupts her day and has a conversation with her. He sees her as an individual, he doesn’t judge her circumstances he takes the time out to listen to her. Then he gives her wisdom.

In our busyness sometimes how many times in our lives have we prayed for Jesus to talk to us, how many times have we missed his words to us. How many times have we cried out to hear his beautiful word?

Be encouraged, Jesus wants to hear from you he wants to know what is on your heart. You are the daughter of a King. You are important to him.

As a Christian Woman we are all on a journey and that is exciting. Place your faith into Jesus hand, let him know what is on your heart. He longs to hear you; he wants to know how your day is.

What is it that he is asking you to do today?

Is he asking you to spend time with him?

Draw near.

Be Love

Be Love

God has given each of you special abilities; be sure to use them to help other, passing on to others God’s many kinds of blessing.1Peter 4:10

I love this scripture that God has entrusted you with unique gifts and strengths.

It encourages me with so many thoughts-

How can we be love in a world where we see so many needs?

How can we show love unconditionally?

What does that look like in the community where you live?

How can you be a blessing to someone who needs it?

There has definitely been a significant time in my life where people have journeyed with me. They have walked me through difficult seasons in my life.

They have taught me of God’s unconditional love, what a blessing they are.

As a new Christian I did not understand what unconditional love looked like and felt like. I prayed to God to know what unconditional love was.

God answered my prayer in ways that would change my life forever.

I had amazing Christian women that saw me in my difficult time and still loved me, that saw me broken, fragile and still they loved me.

I always knew that when I was better, stronger and healed that I wanted to give back.

There are heaps of opportunities all over the place.

Has someone journeyed with you when you were facing a difficult situation?

Has someone loved you just as you are?

Begin where you live, where you work, where you go to school. Who could you encourage today?

Be bold, be brave, be compassionate where you live. Pray, step out in faith and make a difference.

Some ideas are-

  • Send an encouraging letter to someone who is going through a challenging time
  • Encourage your Pastor
  • Take someone out for coffee and pay for them
  • Send someone a gift certificate to buy food
  • Pay for someone behind at the grocery store (don’t let them see you)
  • Encourage your teacher
  • Smile at someone
  • Mentor someone who needs words of encouragement
  • Pray for others, be someone’s prayer warrior
  • Send a gift basket to someone
  • If you are creative make something for someone
  • Lead a small bible group

The list is endless, use the gift that God has given you to be a blessing to someone today.

God will encourage you he will provide the opportunities for you.

A pray for your day-

I pray to be at the right place at the right time under the right circumstances, I pray for divine appointments, divine connections. Show me Jesus who you would like me to bless today. Help me to hear your voice Holy Spirit. In Jesus name amen.

Love cannot remain by itself — it has no meaning. Love has to be put into action, and that action is service.” – Mother Teresa

I love this quote by Mother Teresa love has to be put into action.

Begin where you are.

You will be amazing.

Going Through Storms

Going Through Storms

We all have those seasons in life where things just happen.

Where days are just not how we planned for them to be.

We all go through storms in our lives.

How do we keep going through life when we are pulled in different directions?

How do we stand strong in the midst of challenges?

Sometimes it is difficult and we don’t know what to do.

Sometimes we can see others going through difficult times and we just can’t find the right words to say.

We all deal with things differently. We all take time to process issues that we have been through.

Even though we may be crumbling in the inside we somehow manage to stand strong on the outside.

I don’t know what your journey is or what you have been through lately, I hope and pray that you have someone to talk too. I hope that you have someone to share your journey.

We all need to be heard, we all need to be accepted where we are and loved through the storms in our lives.

Those unexpected interruptions happen in our lives.

In the last few months I have had some unexpected interruptions in my life. My first one was a health interruption.

Last week I was involved in a car accident where someone ran into my car at the lights. Now I could be bitter and just hide away from the world. I did have that though, but I have chosen to stand strong.

It is also important to have friends that you can just be yourself with, friends that can encourage you and help you through the storms.

It may be that you seek professional help to guide you through the storms of life.

It is really important that you look after yourself at this time.

What can you do today to do something nice for yourself?

Five Days and Three Worshops

Five Days and Three Worshops

This week I have attended 3 Professional Development workshops and I must say I have learnt so much.

This year the organisation that I work for, their theme is The Year of Training.

So a few weeks ago I signed up for Protective Behaviours, First Responder Training and De-escalation and Restraint Training.

I was able to attend all the workshops that I had signed up for.

The quality and knowledge of all the trainers for the workshops was incredible. I love how people can bring in their experience’s and share along with the theory of what they are teaching.

I also loved that there was always coffee, snacks and that lunch was provided.

I know that ministry and coffee go together definitely.

Maybe training and coffee go together as well.

I must say that my head is full from this week but I feel so blessed and grateful of the opportunities that I have and am given.

I love learning and I know that I want to be a lifelong learner.

I love the resources and the added resources that I am able to take into the places that I work.

So what now?

Tomorrow I think will be a well-deserved rest and then next week I have a week off work.

I am passionate about my career and I really want to make a difference.

Will share more soon.

Start That Blog

Start That Blog

When I was going through my illness I was seeing an amazing counsellor and I was discussing with her how I wanted to write. What I really wanted to do was to have a blog. She was so lovely and encouraged me to do this.

It took me a few years to really find out who I really was without my illness.

I asked myself these questions-

  • Did I have the skills?
  • Who was I really?
  • What did I want to write about?
  • I loved writing so why not write?
  • What was stopping me?

It then took me a bit longer to gather up the courage to actually write something. I had been working on my writing about my journey, I have a good friend and mentor who encouraged me and helped me with designing my blog.

I remember the first time that I had written something for my blog and then I had to press the publish button.

Oh my goodness the fear that I felt while I was thinking about should I press the publish button, or just leave it?

Then I just had a “Just Do It” moment and I published my blog.

I know that for me writing is part of my creative process and being a creative.

It helps me be in the moment, it encourages me and it is something that I need to do for myself.

Last month I thought that I would just step out of my comfort zone and write a devotional for a Christian Woman’s Devotional in America.

It is another goal that I had wanted to do for such a long time.

They had asked for writers to submit a devotional for their latest publication which was for April.

I chose one of their themes to write about which was, that we are not in competition with other women.

I prepared and wrote for the publication and then submitted it.

A few Fridays later I came home and I discovered that the publication was out. So I scrolled down and found that what I had submitted had been included.

Oh my goodness, let me tell you that I was so excited.

This is something that I had dreamed about for many years ago.

Be encouraged what is it that you have dreamt of doing?

What is stopping you?

Do you need someone to help or mentor you?

I am here cheering you on.

Be Creative

Be Creative

Sometimes in my busyness of work and life I forget how much it means to me to be creative.

We can forget to do something that feeds us, that encourages us, that inspires us and that refuels us to carry on.

I don’t know what it is for you but for me, it is being creative.

Being Creative is really important for me and for my journey.

I have made a decision this year that I will go back to journaling in a notebook. A bit old school with a pen and paper and I love it.

I have discovered that I have heaps of notebooks at my house that I have brought over the last months or years. I think that I have kept them for a special time, I have realised that every day is a special day, a special time to use them.

Post it notes Journal Ideas

When I come home now I take the time to gather up, my notebooks, pens, gel pens, sticker, washi tape, bling, post it notes and whatever else that inspires me for that day.

Then I just take the time and write down how I am feeling, what I have been doing that day and also I will write down my prayers.

Ideas for Your Journal

I have started this at the beginning of the year and am now up to my third note book.

It just helps me to be right in the moment.

It helps me to slow down.

What is something that you can do today that will encourage you and that will inspire you?
